Plant Care Tips: Monstera Delicosa

Are you enchanted by the lush green leaves and iconic splits of the Monstera Deliciosa, aka the Swiss Cheese Plant? You're not alone! With its striking appearance and relatively low-maintenance nature, the Monstera has become a staple in many households. To ensure your Monstera thrives, follow these simple tips:

Lighting: Monstera plants thrive in bright, indirect light. Place your plant near a window where it can receive filtered sunlight throughout the day.

Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of soil to dry out between waterings, then thoroughly saturate the soil until water drains from the bottom of the pot.

Temperature: Monstera plants prefer temperatures between 65 - 85°F. Avoid drastic temperature fluctuations or cold drafts, as this can stress the plant and inhibit growth. Because Monstera plants are native to tropical regions, they'll appreciate regular misting of the leaves or placement on a pebble tray filled with water to increase humidity around the plant.

Pruning and Propogating: As Monstera plants mature, they develop long, aerial roots that help them climb and support themselves in their natural habitat. Provide a moss pole, trellis, or stake for your Monstera to cling to as it grows! This both encourages upward growth and enhances aesthetic appeal. Trim away any yellow or damaged leaves, as well as any leggy vines. You can also propagate your Monstera by taking stem cuttings and rooting them in water or soil!

Please note: Monstera plants can be toxic if ingested, so we recommend keeping your plant out of reach of pets and small humans.
