Get To Know Our Non-Profit Partners: The Center at Red Oak
The Center at Red Oak is a branch of the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH). Founded in 1976, the WSFSSH was formed with the intent of creating a new type of housing capable of meeting the diverse needs of elderly and disabled people. The Center at Red Oak is a full service center for senior citizens, providing arts, health and wellness, education, and other supportive programming. ReVased is so excited to provide flowers to this center and bolster the Center’s efforts to make the aging population feel good.
A six-month behavioral study by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, on the health effects of flowers on senior citizens, demonstrates that flowers ease depression, inspire social networking and refresh memory as we age. Even a little exposure to nature or flowers can aid the healing process and renew our wellbeing as we age. These studies demonstrating reduced depression, improved memory, and inspired companionship have been replicated several times, and we believe these effects are just the seedlings for even more invigorating results. We at ReVased are excited to contribute to this exciting work of enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens through making flowers and nature part of their everyday lives.
